Fatal Accident on Iowa Wind Farm

They could almost be the new state bird of Iowa...the giant wind turbines you see when you head East...West...North...or South of Des Moines. More and more wind farms are appearing, and with the rush of getting the giant turbines in place, there is an increasing risk of accidents & work-related injuries.

This past weekend, a crane operator was fatally injured in a wind farm construction accident. While OSHA investigates, a family grieves and faces the most difficult obstacles ahead.

How does the family get answers to their questions? When they're ready...when you're ready...call Eric, Randy, and Sarah.

We provide each of our clients personalized care, full independent investigations of accident scenes, collaboration with expert witnesses, thorough case preparation and handling of all legal needs throughout the legal process until a favorable settlement or verdict is reached.

Eric, Randy, and Sarah will guide your informed decisions in pursuit of the maximum compensation you deserve, including:

  • Medical expenses
  • Lost future earnings of the deceased
  • Pain and suffering
  • Funeral expenses
  • Loss of companionship

Death benefits are payable to the dependents of the employee. Benefits are first payable to the surviving spouse for life or until remarriage. Dependent children are entitled to the benefits until they reach age 18, or age 25 if they are actually dependent. Others may qualify, if there is a showing of actual dependency. Upon remarriage, if there are no dependent children, the surviving spouse is entitled to a two-year lump sum settlement. Burial expenses not to exceed twelve times the statewide average weekly wage in effect at the time of death are paid in addition to the weekly death benefits.

It's important to know these rights. Employers and insurance companies often just want the situation/accident to "go away". Eric, Randy, and Sarah will fight vigorously for you to ensure that that does not happen.
