The Risk of Working With Forklifts & Heavy Machinery

If you type in "worker injured" into a Google News search, it seems that the first four or five stories that appear involve a forklift-related accident.

If you work with, or near, forklifts, you need to make sure you take all the necessary precautions to avoid injury. However, it is also the employer's responsibility to ensure that all the necessary precautions are in place to ensure a worker's safety.

Just recently in New Mexico, a horrible accident involving a forklift occurred, and investigators are still trying to find out what happened. The forklift fell on top of one of the employees...breaking his clavicle, ribs, and suffering numerous lacerations.

The injured employee had a stellar work record for the past 20 years...so again, it demonstrates how even the most-experienced, most-skilled workers are still prone to work-related accidents.

If you have been hurt on the job, whether it be due to a forklift or not, you need to understand your rights and the types of compensation that are available to you.
