Experienced? Inexperienced? Workplace Accidents Happen to Anyone

We've blogged about this before...about how an ordinary day at the worksite can turn tragic in a split second.

A 41-year-old construction worker fell Wednesday from the roof of a landmarked house in Brooklyn and suffered serious injuries, officials said.

The worker plummeted from the roof of the 184-year-old, two-story clapboard house at 135 Joralemon St. near Sidney Place in Brooklyn Heights at about 9:40 a.m.

"My friend (Antonio Garcia) fell by accident, he was a good worker and was not drinking," said construction worker Emeryk Agubameyan Guinea, 24.

"In the morning everything was fine; it happened in a second. I feel speechless."

Violations were issued to the general contractor American Residential Contractor LTD and the subcontractor Velu General Contracting for having inadequate fall protection at the site.

No matter the experience level, no matter the expertise of the employee...accidents can happen at any time...and at a moment's notice. That's knowledge that all employees know...and all employers SHOULD know...yet, as in this instance (like countless others), employers continually fail to properly protect their employees.

Perhaps an accident could have been avoided (or made less severe) had the proper precautions been in place...but we'll never know because the employer failed to act properly.

If the employer failed to take care of its employees before an accident, do you really think they'll take the time and care to ensure their injured employee is cared for post-accident? No...but that's where we can help.

We will fight for you...fight for your rights...and fight for your full & rightful compensation. We look out for you...and your family. We know how hard it is after suffering an injury on the job. There's pain, uncertainty, and confusion.

We'll put our resources to work for you. Let us fight for you!
