Dealing With Forklifts & Jacks is Incredibly Hazardous

A supermarket employee in Deerfield Beach was injured Wednesday in an accident with a device that can lift and move pallets, a fire rescue official said.

The injured woman, 22, works at the Aldi Supermarket at 747 S. Federal Highway, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said. In photographs he released on Twitter, her right leg appeared trapped beneath the pallet jack. He did not know how the accident happened.

Firefighters used rescue lift bags to raise the jack off the woman's limb.

If you type in "worker injured" into a Google News search, it seems that the first four or five stories that appear involve a forklift-related accident.

If you work with, or near, forklifts, you need to make sure you take all the necessary precautions to avoid injury. However, it is also the employer's responsibility to ensure that all the necessary precautions are in place to ensure a worker's safety.

If you have been hurt on the job, whether it be due to a forklift or not, you need to understand your rights and the types of compensation that are available to you.

Call Eric, Randy, and Sarah at 515-225-4485 or visit us at and we'll be happy to answer your questions. The insurance company will NOT be on your side...we will be, and we will fight alongside you to make sure you get the compensation you deserve!
