Construction Worker Injured After Jackhammer Strikes Gas Line

This terrible incident is a clear example of how when working with machinery...and near gas lines...can be incredibly hazardous and dangerous.

from LaTimes.com

A man was injured Thursday when a construction crew struck a gas line with an electric jackhammer, causing a fire outside a Huntington Beach home, authorities said.

Huntington Beach fire officials received an emergency call at about 11 a.m. that a crew digging a trench along the side of the home had hit a natural-gas main.

The jackhammer ignited the gas and started a fire, officials said.

The fire was limited to the gas line and was put out quickly after firefighters arrived.

It was clearly an unexpected accident, but nonetheless, a worker was injured and should be covered under workers' compensation.

We are dedicated to fighting for the injured worker. Far too often, an employer will attempt to bully/intimidate an injured employee into not filing a workers' compensation claim. They use threats of job loss and lost wages. However...you...have...rights...rights that you need to exercise.

An employer will never offer you your full compensation. They'll try to entice you with what they think is a "fair offer", but in reality, they're only trying to save as much money as possible.

You are rightfully entitled to your full compensation...and these are rights that can not be taken away.

If you've been injured while on the job, let us help go over your rights with you and explore the possible paths to ensure you get your full compensation. Call Eric, Randy, and Sarah at 515-225-4485 or visit us at Loneylaw.com.
