Crane Operators and Construction Workers Must Be Protected

When dealing with a job that involves the use of a crane...the utmost caution must be taken.

A crane truck tipped over on the Pineda Causeway near Interstate 95 Tuesday morning, injuring one person and blocking traffic for a couple hours, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A worker standing on the back of the truck as it fell over was transported to Viera Hospital. The injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

The accident was reported around 10 a.m. Tuesday on the east side of the Pineda Causeway. The crane truck was being used to remove concrete slabs from the overpass.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the crane attempted to rotate with one of the slabs when it tipped over toward the right. The truck overturned on the right side, injuring the worker.

The employee is "lucky" to only have suffered a few injuries. We've seen many crane accidents that result in much more severe injuries...including death.

If an unfortunate incident should happen, we at Loney & Schueller are ready and able to help.
