There's No Such Thing as an Average Workday

We all know that there is no such thing like an average workday...even when all proper safety measures are taken, unforeseeable accidents can still occur.

A construction worker was hurt on the job in Downsville on Friday and airlifted to UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, state police at Deposit said.

Leah M. Murray, 33, of Bainbridge, was hit on the chin by a wooden beam that sprung from a loader, Sgt. Salvatore Indelicato said Friday night.

Murray was employed by a contractor doing work on the bridge on state Route 206 over the Delaware River, Indelicato said, and she was working on the roadway at the southern entrance to the main bridge.

"Basically, it was an accident," he said.

Even if the accident is considered "freak", that doesn't mean that your rights as a worker are taken away. Every injury suffered at the workplace should be investigated and examined.

This injured worker was going about his normal workday routine when this freak accident occurred. Since he was well within the normal scope of his job, he is definitely still eligible to receive full workers' compensation benefits.

Too many times we hear from clients who were unaware of their rights.
