Roofers Face Constant Risk of Injury

Eventually here in Central Iowa, it will feel like fall...until then, it's just "extended summer" apparently.

Many homeowners are taking this time to do home improvements that they may have initially been putting off until next Spring. Tops on a lot of list for many homeowners is getting a new roof installed.

With this sudden rush, employers are getting their crews out as quick as possible.

A roofer suffered critical injuries Monday when he fell from a roof on Mellville Street, according to police.

Four workers were on a section of scaffolding being supported by two ladders when one of the ladders broke around 12:30 Monday afternoon. Three of the men fell from the roof.

One of the men stopped breathing and was taken to Strong Hospital where police say he is listed in critical condition. OSHA was called to the scene and is investigating.

It would appear that this fall may have been as simple as an unforeseen accident, but that doesn't mean that the employee isn't eligible for compensation.

We at Loney & Schueller are dedicated to fighting for the injured worker. You have rights...rights that need to be exercised. You are owed full-compensation for the injuries you experience at the workplace, and Eric, Randy, and Sarah are ready to fight for you.
