The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha is one of our favorite day trips during the summer.
A construction worker was injured at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium Monday morning.
He was injured by a 500-pound steel beam near the Desert Dome around 11:30 a.m. The worker was conscious and alert as he was taken to Nebraska Medicine in critical condition.
His name hasn't been released. Kiewit Construction says he's an ironworker for subcontractor M&M Steel Erection and was working on the Conservation Academy at the time of the accident.
When employees are working on a construction site, it's the responsibility of the employer to ensure that the conditions are safe for workers. Safety measures must be taken and enforced to provide this safe working environment. When employers cut corners is when accidents can happen...many of which result in serious injuries to employees.
If you've been hurt while at work, it's important to know that you have rights...and it's imperative to know how you can utilize your rights to ensure you receive your proper compensation.
