Accidents Can Befall Even the Most Experienced Workers

When it comes down to dealing with injuries and accidents in the workplace, one thing is for sure, they can and do happen to anyone. We have had clients come into our office who had worked in their profession for over 20 years, and were completely stunned that an accident had actually occurred.

An Arizona Public Service Co. worker was flown to a hospital Tuesday afternoon after he came in contact with a power line in Tonopah, according to a Maricopa County sheriff's official.

The utility employee was working in a bucket truck in the area of 539th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road when he received an electric jolt at 1:39 p.m., according to Deputy Joaquin Enriquez, a Sheriff's Office spokesman. "This is the worst fear for electric utility workers -- to see one of our own injured on the job," said Anna Haberlein, an APS spokeswoman.

"The dangers associated with working around electricity are real, and our first responders in the field are trained and committed to protecting each other and keeping the lights on for customers. Our thoughts and prayers are with our employee and his family during this difficult time."

Haberlein would not name the employee but said he has worked at APS for 10 years.

This electrical worker was a well-trained employee who had worked on these types of jobs for many years. It goes to show that no matter how experienced an employee is...accidents at work can happen.

When they do happen, things can become quite hectic and confusing. Who do you report your injury too? Do you report your injury? What kind of compensation can I receive? Will I be fired due to my injury?

These are far too many stresses for an injured employee to endure. While you're recovering from a physical injury, let Eric, Randy, and Sarah do their best to alleviate your mental and emotional burden.

Loney & Schueller are well-versed in the workers' compensation field, and will be happy to answer your questions. We will fight for your rights to get you the compensation you deserve, and get you back to focusing on healing from your injury.
