Work-related injuries due to accidents involving tree maintenance workers are highest around this time of year.
Authorities say a maintenance worker was hospitalized after he was injured by a falling tree in Fort Dodge.
The Messenger reports that the accident happened a little before 9 a.m. Wednesday at Fort Dodge Country Club. Golf course superintendent Mark Siens says the man was cutting down the tree and it struck him as it fell. Assistant Fort Dodge Fire Chief Lenny Sanders says the man wasn't trapped under the tree.
The man was taken to a hospital. His name wasn't disclosed.
If you have been injured while on the job, or doing a job-related activity, you are eligible for workers' compensation. It's imperative that you know your company's policy, but as we've seen far too often, sometimes those polices are filled with exceptions that have been put in to try and keep your employer from being liable.
We fight for you, the worker. You have rights, and it's our priority to make sure you know your rights, and that you are compensated correctly. You've worked too hard not get what you have rightfully earned.
