Chemical Explosion Leads to Worker Losing Fingers

A worker may have lost several fingers in a chemical explosion at a community pool in Weston, Florida, on Wednesday, officials said.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue officials said the maintenance worker was mixing chemicals to clean the bathroom floors in the poolhouse at 1501 Coronado Road when the explosion occurred.

The worker mixed hydrofluoric acid with chlorine, officials said. The can exploded when pressurized.

We know what caused the accident...but why did this accident occur? Was it a "freak" accident...was it an employee not knowing how to properly mix the chemicals...was it due to proper safety measures not being implemented?

One of these is most likely cause of the unfortunate accident, and the injured employee is rightfully owed full and proper compensation for his injuries.

An employer must ensure a safe working environment for their employees and they must...MUST...ensure all their employees have been properly trained for their job.

If you've been injured while on the job, call Eric, Randy, and Sarah at 515-225-4485. If you're too injured to travel, we are happy to come to you. You are our priority, and we will fight vigorously to ensure your rights are upheld...and that you get your full & rightful compensation!
