Worker Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries After Roller Accident

(From SFGate.com)

A construction worker was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a pavement roller in San Francisco's West Portal neighborhood Thursday afternoon, officials said.

First responders got to the scene at 18th and Vicente streets at 12:14 p.m. and found the worker, a man in his 50s, laying next to the pavement roller, saidJonathan Baxter, a spokesman for the San Francisco Fire Department.

Officer Albie Esparza, a spokesman for the San Francisco Police Department, confirmed reports that the pavement roller hit the worker.

First responders on scene gave the man, who was not identified, emergency medical care before taking him to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Esparza said. The worker was in serious condition with traumatic injuries to the lower part of his body, according to Baxter.

With that, we all take a moment to cringe over this hard working employee's injuries.

We at Loney & Schueller pride ourselves on our ability to fight for the injured worker. Far too often, injured workers find themselves at the mercy of bullying employers who intimidate their employees into thinking that filing a workers' compensation claim is wrong...and an "attack" on the company.

This is NOT the case. You, the worker, have rights. Rights that can not be taken away from you...rights that you should exercise if you suffer a workplace injury.

Eric, Randy, and Sarah are committed to fighting for you.

If you've been injured at work, the best thing to do is call Eric, Randy, or Sarah at 515-225-4485. We find that nearly all of our clients are unaware of how many rights they actually have. These laws are there to protect the employee and to ensure they are properly compensated if an accident should occur.

We will go over your rights with you, and together, we will find the proper course of action to take...and then fight vigorously for your rights. We aren't concerned with your employer being upset with us...we don't represent them in any fashion...we represent YOU.
