Another Fall at the Workplace Results in Injury

As we see in study after study regarding injuries at the workplace...one of the most common causes of injury is due to falls.

Workers had a scare Thursday afternoon at Malesus Elementary School after a worker fell on the roof.

School officials say maintenance worker Carey Booker was injured while working on the roof of the school.

Jackson firefighters rushed to the scene and had to use a ladder on one of their trucks to bring him down off the roof.

"It's a maintenance worker and he had fallen off of a ladder and got his leg caught in the ladder in the fall, and it appears to have broken his leg," said Battalion Chief Johnny Brantley with the Jackson Fire Department.

School officials say Booker has worked for the district for less than a year.

Slips and falls are common workplace injuries, and in many instances, these falls can be prevented through proper safety measures. For whatever reason though, the employer fails to ensure their employees' safety by putting up proper safety precautions.

If you've been injured in a fall at the workplace, contact Eric, Randy, and Sarah at 515-225-4485. We will go over your claim with you and help determine the proper course to ensure you get your rightful compensation.

Falls can not only result in short-term injuries, but many of those injuries lead to debilitating health effects later in life. A fall can cause a back injury which can linger for years...which may result in the injured employee from never fully being able to do his job properly.

All of these factors must be taken into consideration to ensure you get your rightful compensation. We at Loney & Schueller are ready to help you...and ready to fight for your rights.
